Where to stay along the way...
There is some concern on what to do in the middle of the night for lodging. Since we'll have 2 vans, we can certainly shuttle folks around. It sounds like there maybe access to a home in Boone? Or speaking to another runner who has done this event before, they mentioned Spruce Pine is a good halfway spot to get a hotel. Then folks can be shuttled in and out while others are running. Any thoughts... Here's a link for other thoughts too: Relay Blog

what about renting a cabin near grayson highlands a night or two before the race? i think it would be good to get the team together. i've found several affordable options. check out this website:

Not a bad idea bettis. we could all meet in avl thursday morn and take the vans to GH.
Sounds like a good plan to me... I am up for whatever.
got us a cabin...cave school cabin. last one they had, several teams have already rented them. $160 a night, sleeps 10.

Cabin sounds good. Do we need a hotel reservation for the midway point or do we stick w/ the cabin the whole time???
Also, thought I would share this from the main ridge relay site:

This will be our team's second year in the race and last year we rented a cabin in Spruce Pine to use as a base camp to (try to) get some sleep between race segments. While this worked OK, it wasn't great and with the price of gas this year I hate to be doing any more driving than necessary. I was wondering what other teams did to try and catch a little sleep during the race and how effective it was. I heard a rumor about groups staying at some of the Churches along the way - is this a possibility? I welcome any information you're willing to share. Thanks.
Forgot to mention that a cabin outside of the Boone area has been made available thanks to George.
